Subject:China has taken great steps since 1979 to modernize its economy and raise the standard of living of many of its citizens. The reform and promulgation of foreign direct investment (FDI) laws, the promotion of the rule of law and accession to the WTO are some of the greater steps taken by the Chinese government to these ends.
