The Cour de Cassation dismisses an appeal against Jeannie Longo.

The Cour de Cassation dismisses an appeal against cycling champion Jeannie Longo. The French Supreme Court dismissed the appeal lodged by the Amaury Group, owner of the newspaper Le Parisien – Aujourd’hui en France against a judgment issued in 2006 by the Paris Court of Appeals ordering the newspaper to pay Jeannie Longo damages. During the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004, the newspaper published an article entitled “Quand Jeannie Longo propose des produits interdits” (“When Jeannie Longo advertises prohibited products”) in which it affirmed that the cycling champion was selling illegal products on her website.  In October 2006, the Court of Appeals of Paris held that Jeannie Longo, represented by André Soulier, had been libeled.
